Public Radio International was supported by a grant from Corporation for Public Broadcasting in 1997 to create the Public Radio Underwriting Partnership. This partnership was created to identify best practices for commercial radio broadcasters and apply for public radio corporate support. Jim Taszarek Sr. is a veteran broadcaster. Between 1997 and 1999, 'Taz met with dozens of people at 10 stations. He shared his insights and made industry-standard recommendations after intense research.
