Dr. Zhi-Lin Fong, a certified family doctor with an interest in aesthetics and skin diseases, is board-certified. After completing her medical training at Dalhousie University she completed a residency in family medicine at Memorial University. In her first year as a family physician in Newfoundland & Labrador she found that her patients had a lot of skin problems and lacked dermatology knowledge. In order to better serve the needs of the community, she sought additional dermatology training. This led to a growing interest in skin diseases and the health of the skin. She has a Diploma in Practical Dermatology from Cardiff University (UK), with distinction, and she is also trained in dermoscopy. She is also interested in medical education and she's pursuing her Master of Clinical Science degree at Western University. She is involved with the University of Toronto Department of Family and Community Medicine in teaching postgraduate students and local doctors, especially in dermatology, dermoscopy and small skin surgeries. While pursuing an interest in dermatology, Dr. Fong practiced comprehensive family medicine. Since then, she has expanded her practice to include primary care dermatology and aesthetic services. Along with her family medicine academic work at Oak Valley Health's Markham Family Medicine Teaching Unit, Dr. Fong founded Terra Skin Clinic in order to follow her aesthetic interest. She is currently focusing on laser therapy and light therapy. This was a modality she initially developed interest in as a way to improve her treatment plans for Rosacea and severe acne, and for scarring. These were amongst the most common concerns of the patients that she treated. She strives to provide individualized, safe, and satisfying care for each patient.
