Katharine Robinson School of Highland Dancing is dedicated to offering exceptional dance instruction to help students achieve their potential, and experience the joy of the art of Highland Dancing. The school offers a nurturing and inclusive environment to recreational and competitive dancers of all levels and ages. KRSHD promotes Scottish Culture in Washington, D.C. through community performances. In the Robinson home, 10 students began The Katharine Robinson School of Highland Dancing over fifty years ago. The school has a vibrant and strong community with students from age 2 up to 50. It offers recreation classes, examinations every year, competitions, and performances at the local, regional, and international levels. Dancers of Ms. Robinson have won competitions in Canada, Scotland and the United States. Community Service is a part of the school's mission. This includes fundraising and shows for well-known charities. Ms. Robinson encourages all of her students to join associations, teams and compete in various concerts. She wants to help her dancers gain confidence and take pride in what they have accomplished. Both recreational and competitive classes are available. Dancers are prepared for annual exams, local, regional, and international competitions as well as demonstrations. The curriculum includes training for professional exams.
