The Project Management Institute, a not-for profit professional organization, was founded in 1969 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA. Through global advocacy, collaboration and education, PMI provides value to more than 2.9 millions professionals in almost every country around the globe. PMI promotes careers and improves organization success. It also further develops project management by providing globally accepted standards, certifications and resources. PMI OVOC was founded in 1985 and serves more than 2100 members. The Project Management Institute (PMI), founded in 1969 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA and with more than 220,000 members from over 120 countries, is the largest not-for profit project management professional organization in the world. PMI OVOC was founded in 1985 and represents Ottawa Valley and Outaouais Region. It has over 2100 members, as of 2014. The PMI Board of Directors began strategic planning in 2001. From 2002 to 2004, they developed and implemented a strategy framework. This framework is essential to PMI's vision of the long-term. The Chapter's long-term strategic plan was completed by the PMI OVOC, which aligns with the Project Management Institute. This process enabled (a) PMI OVOC to identify the future needs and customers of its members, and (b), PMI OVOC to determine how they can meet those needs.
