Following my 2001 University of Manitoba Bachelor of Medical Rehabilitation (Occupational Therapist) degree, I had an 11-year career as an Occupational Therapist in private practice. This was in addition to working at a large industrial rehabilitation center that is insurance-based. After being inspired by my children's development and arrival, I changed my professional interest to child health and well-being. Because I was driven to help children reach their developmental milestones and to improve the lives of others, I made a huge leap from the industrial rehabilitation world that focuses on adults with injuries to take a big step into the amazing world of children. I have found that managing a family with three small children and a hectic household requires constant adjustments in direction. You need to be able to move it forward or slow it down. It is up to you to know when it's time to switch gears. These same abilities are applied to my clinical work, where I seamlessly switch between being a high-energy motivator and a soft-spoken caregiver depending on the situation. I am primarily focused on working with families and children with mental illness. My special expertise is in early childhood trauma.
