Jacksonville Cultural Development Corporation is a registered, 501(c), and has been working in collaboration with BIPOC musicians, social service non-profits, as well as under-resourced communities. This includes the Eastside neighbourhood. Through their community-driven programming in the arts, they connect historically marginalized groups to change agents who can make a difference for educational, social, economic and environmental awareness. JCDC's cultural program, Moving the Margin Artists In Residence, is dedicated to fostering creative communities through providing support and resources for Artists and Makers. Shawana, an award-winning curator and activist who uses representation to amplify the voices of artists for more than five years, has used this as an instrument of cultural production. Shawana is a vocal advocate for Black artists, and she creates accessible public spaces that allow visual storytelling. She creates work that connects to social problems and reflects the artistic interests of each artist.
