Our mission is to inspire, empower and educate individuals in order for them to make a difference and improve the world. The four-year journey that our students take is filled with discovery and mentorship, small classes, faculty-mentors, and community service. Our beautiful mile-long coastline and the white-sand beaches on Florida's Gulf Coast are our favorite things. We are much more than just a pretty face. Eckerd College is a vibrant liberal arts and sciences community. It has been voted one of the 40 Colleges that Change Lives. Although we are not the right place for everybody, it might just be for you. The campus is located on the tip of the peninsula, which is surrounded by Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. It was once home to the Tocobaga. The campus is home to native plants and wildlife, which are maintained through sustainability initiatives. The Seminole Tribe of Florida constructed four chickees that are located in the center of campus. They can be used to teach outdoor classes or study.
