Many people sought Dan Johnson's assistance in overcoming their addiction. His burden increased over time for both addicts and their families. NewDay eventually emerged. NewDay Counseling has been providing counseling services to a growing number of people and families since its inception. NewDay was also a preferred referral source for many churches. They developed and published highly-effective recovery and training programs and several books. This is a new type of treatment for addiction. The Spritual Formation We believe freedom from addiction and substance abuse is not just about medical and therapeutic services. It also requires a solid spiritual foundation, and active participation in a local church. NewDay adheres to the beliefs that have been fundamental in evangelical Christianity over many years. This belief includes the belief that all of the Bible is God's inspired Word and contains no errors. One God exists, but He is three persons. Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is also believed to be the one and only Savior who came to earth to show God to mankind and offer His sacrifice as a substitute for our sins. We believe all humans were made in God's image to be able to fellowship with Him, but fell apart from that connection through their willful disobedience. People are therefore unable to regain a relationship with God by their own efforts. The gospel, which is faith in Jesus Christ as the only way to forgive sins and receive eternal life, is the basis of our belief. We believe all Christians should be like Christ and obey the Word of God, as well as the Spirit of God within. True freedom is not achieved only by sobriety but when an individual follows God's positive, purposeful way. The temptation to relapse will fade.
