After you have found the tooth, be sure to pick it up at the crown and not the root. This is the worst way to cause damage to it so it becomes impossible for an emergency dentist to place it in the socket. You can temporarily preserve the tooth by putting it in your own socket. However, don't force it in. As a temporary preservation technique, you can put the tooth in a cup with milk or water.
