Our nervous system is constantly at the lowest level of readiness. Resources are being diverted away from immune function, digestion, and other systems. These systems have a lower priority than those that may face immediate danger. Massage helps to break this cycle of stress by encouraging relaxation and freeing up resources for maintenance and repair.
