Higher Praise Dance Academy, founded in 1997, has helped many students from beginner to professional dancers develop their foundations and encourage spiritual growth. Higher Praise Dance Academy is located in Detroit, Michigan. It's a non-profit educational center that teaches praise dance. We provide dance training to youth and adults in various styles of dance for spiritual and personal enrichment, as well as opportunities for self-development and community service. Susan Alexander, Executive/Artistic Director of Higher Praise Dance Academy in Detroit is located on Vicksburg Street. Dance classes and Dance Ministry workshops are offered. She holds a degree in Business Administration (with a concentration in Ballet & Modern Dance) from Davenport University. She is also the author of "How to develop a powerful dance ministry" a teacher's edition and a student training manual. She has also written a Christian Etiquette Book aimed at young girls. She has three children and is a married woman who continues to manage and minister full-time in her dance school and ministry. Ms. Alexander is a 21-year veteran of training adults and youth in liturgical dance ministry. Since 1998, she has been organizing concerts where her students perform. She awards them certificates and trophies for their achievements. She has been featured on UPN Channel 50 News and in the Mind/Body & Soul Section, Free Press. She is the recipient of numerous Community Awards including the Spirit of Detroit Award and Christian Arts Award. The County of Wayne as well as the City of Detroit have also issued Testimonial Resolves. She currently oversees/directs a newly formed organization, NALAD. (National Association of Liturgical Active Dancers), an affiliate of Higher Praise Dance Academy.
