Positive Psychology is an emerging field in psychology. Positive Psychology is a new field of psychology that focuses on positive functioning and what people do to make their lives meaningful. Positive psychology employs "visioning", which refers to a vision of the future or a healthier self. Positive interventions are positive ways to promote superior/optimal functioning, not just pain relief or restoration of an individual's previous baseline function. Your previous best is your baseline. Our goal is to help people see the possibilities in their lives, and to teach them how they can tap into their intrinsic resources. Although a retrospective approach can be helpful for identifying patterns that are no longer relevant, it is not useful in understanding the ways in which those patterns might hinder or support future focus.
