Samaritan Daytop Village was founded in an effort by the community to assist struggling teenagers. Since then, it has grown to be an expansive human service agency with more than 60 offices in New York City. Samaritan Village offers a variety of services, including shelters, substance abuse treatment and supportive housing. It also provides peer recovery services and programs specifically for veterans, seniors, their families and older adults. Samaritan Daytop Village can be accessed by everyone. Each person who enters our programs can create a lasting wave of success. Samaritan Village is home to hundreds of Samaritan Daytop members who return from Samaritan Daytop each year as productive and contributing members. One must be able to make peace with yourself and others in order to overcome an addiction. Samaritan Daytop Village offers evidence-based residential and outpatient treatment, as well as detoxification services and mental health services. The facility also provides support and medical services for people who struggle with addiction. Samaritan Village opened the first program for veterans suffering from substance abuse or post-traumatic stress disorder. Three veterans residential treatment centres are currently in operation, one of which is dedicated exclusively to female veterans. Family breakdown can result from issues like substance abuse or homelessness. Our comprehensive services help families to stay together and improve their overall health and wellness. We also provide housing and support for families who are homeless or near homelessness. Samaritan Daytop Village provides shelter, family and single-adult residences as well as rehabilitation programs for men and women. Our mission is to help individuals develop their skills and to find resources to enable them to be independent. Samaritan Daytop Village is expanding its permanent housing program to provide individuals and families the opportunity to rent affordable homes.
