My specialization is in the treatment of children suffering from emotional and behavioral dysregulation. I'm a school and clinical psychologist. My passion has been to provide high-quality care for children and their families. I also enjoy innovating new ways to apply evidence-based treatment methods into clinical practice. My first ten years in my profession were spent at well-respected academic institutions. I gained extensive experience developing and providing care for children suffering from challenging psychiatric disorders. Before I started my private practice, 6 years as an assistant professor at Columbia University Medical Center in psychiatry and senior clinical psychologist at Clinic for Anxiety and Related Disorders. I was the Director of B.U.D.S. I was the Coordinator for ADHD/Disruptive Behaviors and Program Director for B.U.D.S. My clinical experience included the treatment of many children suffering from various emotional and behavioral difficulties using evidence-based therapies, such as Parent management training, Parent/child interaction therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy. A summer intensive treatment program (B.U.D.S.) for children suffering from behavioral and emotional problems was also established. Program). Prior to joining Columbia, I worked as a psychologist at the Child Mind Institute's ADHD and Behavior Disorders Center for two years. I was a CMI psychologist for disruptive behavior in children and worked with teachers to manage classroom behavior. My roots were established in the field of childhood emotional dysregulation when I was in my post-doctoral and pre-doctoral training. My pre-doctoral training at Andrus Children’s Center was approved by the APA. I also completed my post-doctoral fellowship in Fordham University's Pediatric Emotional Regulation Lab, (PERL) where I specialized on conducting thorough diagnostic evaluations of children who exhibit temper outbursts. My career has been devoted to disseminating scientific knowledge about childhood emotional and behavioral disorders. My presentations have been at schools, community groups, conferences and school. I also published research in scientific journals and appeared on various media platforms offering advice and guidance about parenting and child behavior. Behavior Rocket is a mobile app that helps teachers and parents provide positive reinforcement to their children's behaviors. It was also developed and founded by me to further improve delivery of behavior treatment. Personally, I'm a runner and a soccer player. Cristina and I reside in Brooklyn with our daughter, Cristina.
