Terri Kern works as an independent artist in her studio. She is a storyteller who documents the experiences she has had and her world through her richly detailed vessels. She has received numerous accolades for her excellence in ceramics since receiving her master's degree in 1991. She has been involved in international collaborations since 2000 with artists in Munich, Germany, Nancy, France, Liuzhou in the People's Republic of China, and Barbacoa in Cuba. As an ambassador for art, she has traveled to Germany France and China. Terri, along with her collaborators in Cincinnati, Munich, and Liuzhou, received the "Innovation Award", from Sister Cities International Conference, Belfast Ireland, for a collaborative international drawing. She continues to motivate art teachers and students in high schools and colleges with her workshops and lectures on studio practices and her experiences as an artist, even though she has left full-time teaching. She is a firm believer in the value of community building through art. She is a member of the Clay Alliance of Greater Cincinnati. In addition, she started a fund to benefit ceramics programs at non-profit institutions in Cincinnati. She was also the project manager and designer of ArtWorks ArtRX in 2015. Her work with fourteen students and three teaching artists resulted in twenty mixed-media paintings created for the Ronald McDonald House, Cincinnati.
