Following my training in California as a psychotherapist, I moved back to Seattle in the summer 2010 to start my private practice. My clinical experience includes long-term residential treatment for adolescents and adults with addiction, substance abuse and trauma (at Daytop in California), and short term outpatient care. In addition, I worked at Santa Clara University's private counseling center. There, I taught psychopathology, history, and research methods to Counseling Psychology students. As a Seattle psychologist, I also had the opportunity to work in Silicon Valley. There, I was able to help people overcome many mental challenges, including anxiety and depression. A BA in English and Military Science is my degree from the University of Washington. I also hold an MA in Leadership and Organizational Development at Bastyr University, Leadership Institute of Seattle and MA and Ph.D degrees in clinical psychology from Institute of Transpersonal Psychology/Sofia University, Palo Alto, California. Additionally, I have formal training and publications in Buddhist meditative techniques. My co-author is Dr. Randye Semple. He is Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry, University of Southern California. Finally, I received post-doctoral biofeedback training from the Institute of HeartMath and was under the mentorship of Albert Sheldon M.D. who is the founder of Complex Integration of Multiple Brain Systems (CIMBS). Before becoming a private psychologist in Seattle, I served as a commissioned officer with the United States Army Medical Service Corps. This meant that I had to serve overseas in Germany, Africa and the United States. A 10-year career in civilian medicine included small-business owner, consultant, marketing and leadership and as an executive medical officer.
