Seattle Colleges is the hub of all metropolitan Seattle, and the surrounding areas. It's the largest district of community colleges in Washington State and educates more than 45,000 students annually. First classes were held at the Edison Vocational Technical Institute, Capitol Hill. In 1966, Seattle Community College (now Seattle Central College) was established as part of the state's public schools system.
