Wendell Burnette Architecture is an international architectural firm based out of Phoenix, Arizona. Wendell Burnette Architects has a diverse portfolio that includes both private and public projects. Our practice's focus is on space, light, context, place and the natural environment in which we live. Architecture at the practice is responsive to client and site needs. It takes an active approach to building and encourages people to use it. Recent public and private commissions show that the studio is committed to being an active participant in the local communities where we work. Wendell Burnette Architects' work has been honored with numerous awards, such as a 1990 Young Architects Award by Progressive Architecture magazine and a 1999 "Emerging voices Award" from Architecture magazine. In addition to three "Record Houses" Awards from Architectural Record Magazine in 1996, 2000, and 2006, the AIA Western Mountain Region Merit Award, an AIA Western Mountain Region Merit Award, an AIA Western Mountain Region Merit Award, an AIA Honor Award, and a 2009 National AIA/Maryvale Community Center/Pal Verde Library/Maryvale Community Center/Maryvale Library/Maryvale Community Center. The SMITHSONIAN Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum in New York has presented "Design Culture Now", "SouthwestNET" to the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art in Scottsdale. "Dialogues in Space" was a solo exhibition at Arizona State University's College of Design. "Architecture in Arizona: Phoenix – Barcelona" is an exhibition and symposium in Barcelona. Burnette was awarded the American Academy of Arts and Letters' 2009 Academy Award in Architecture. This award recognizes an American architect who is distinguished by strong personal directions.
