Ms. Cook also serves as a member of California State Bar Immigration and Nationality Law Advisory Council and the American Immigration Lawyers Association. She has a wealth of knowledge in the areas of family immigration, waivers, removal defense, consular processing and asylum law. She has represented scores of individuals in Immigration Court, and assisted hundreds of others obtain U.S. citizenship and residency. She is an experienced immigration lawyer in Federal Courts. She was the attorney for Castro-Cortez v. INS. 239 F.3d 1097 (9th Cir. 2001), a case involving reinstatement and due process. She is a graduate of the University of California Hastings College of Law and has been an active member of the State Bar of California in California since 1988. Her Bachelor of Arts degree was obtained from San Diego State University. Ms. Cook has been admitted to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California and the Northern District of California. She is also admitted at the Ninth Circuit Federal Court of Appeals, the Executive Office for Immigration Review and all Immigration Courts, as well as the Board of Immigration Appeals. After living in Spain, Colombia, and Honduras for many years, Cook speaks Spanish fluently. Her presentations have included the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights of the Bay Area and the Immigrant Legal Resource Center as well as the Bar Association of San Francisco. She has collaborated with numerous nonprofit organizations and the Mexican Consulate of Fresno in the Central Valley to provide community outreach. She is currently a member of the board of directors of Centro La Familia Advocacy Services.
