Colorado Ballet was founded in 1961 by Lillian Covillo & Freidann Park. The non-profit company has been presenting classical ballets and dances of the highest quality in Denver for nearly 60 years. Colorado Ballet presents more than 50 ballets a year by its 31 Company dancers and 21 Studio Company Dancers. The Colorado Ballet Academy is the leading ballet school in Colorado. It offers training for students from 1 1/2 years old to adults, beginners through pre-professionals. Colorado Ballet offers outstanding community outreach and education programs that allow thousands of people to enjoy the beauty of dance. Colorado Ballet Academy, the official training school for Colorado Ballet, uses the latest standards in ballet education. Students are taught creative dance, pre-ballet and classical ballet at the Academy. Students are placed into Level 1, starting at the age of seven. They progress according to their age, ability, and experience. This curriculum guides students through their initial introduction to ballet and a complete course in the study of this art. Colorado Ballet’s Pre-Professional Division offers a nurturing, focused environment to help ease the transition between student and professional dancer. This audition-only program focuses on developing the entire artist by offering dance classes that go beyond technique. It is designed to prepare dancers for professional ballet. The Open Program is a community-based program that offers classes from beginning to advanced ballet for teens and adults.
