Growing up, I lived in a tiny town on the eastern coast of North Carolina. We were always directed to creative entertainment outlets and my friends and me found them. Painting classes were my first introduction to art. They quickly turned into a way for me to expand and explore the world. My personal and professional passions started to blend together as the years went by. I continued my career and education in the arts, with a specialization in advertising, studio art, art management, and decorative painting. With the growing age of my daughters, I had more time to spend painting. The classes and workshops I attend continue to be a source of inspiration and learning. They also allow me to experiment and learn. As an artist, I always try to remain open. It is important to be willing to leave my comfort zone. I also believe in the importance of embracing vulnerability. It is wonderful to be able to paint and lose track of time. Colorist is the best way to describe my painting style. The color is usually the catalyst that drives me to start a painting. Inspiration comes from nature, people, pictures, emotions, and experiences. Recent work has a more abstract style with floral and botanical references. My preferred medium is oil, but I like to use different types of mixed media in order to create depth, layers and texture.
